Florida Beach Community - Rosemary Beach
Unique Features
Imagine starting the day with breakfast on the balcony of a cottage overlooking the serene Gulf of Mexico, inhaling refreshing smog-free air.  Imagine closing the front door and strolling on boardwalks past more masterfully designed cottages, gardens and parks on the way to work.  No traffic, no highways, no rush hour, no crowds and no stress.

A five minute walk from front door to work, this is just the way Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, the internationally renowned town planners of Rosemary Beach, designed it.  The multiple neighborhoods of Rosemary Beach are interconnected by a network of pedestrian footpaths, boardwalks and secret pathways that lead to all public areas, including the beach, the Town Square, tennis courts, swimming pools and other town amenities.  Cars are restricted to alleyways behind homes and the town’s pedestrian scale ensures that every place within the community is easily accessible by foot.

Nothing is more than a five minute walk away from the town center either, where shops, restaurants, the Town Hall and Post Office beckon residents to gather, work and socialize in a stress-free environment. The town center is easily accessible to residents who want to dine at their favorite restaurant, but don’t want to spend the entire evening just getting there; residents who want to do more with their day than spend it in the car running errands to locations that are miles apart; residents who want to plan an event at the Town Hall, the largest indoor venue on Scenic Route 30A, yet don’t want the hassle of huge crowds.  The town center is just that--the center of town with everything residents need conveniently located in one area.

As you stroll along the footpaths in Rosemary Beach, named for the native species of rosemary herb that lines our sand paths and can be found throughout our town, you will discover some delightful surprises…

Dune Walkovers

Rosemary Beach made a commitment to protect the environment by not building beyond the coastal construction control line, or buffer zone, landward of the beach. In keeping with that commitment, nine dune walkovers have been built providing residents and guests beach access. These walkovers protect the fragile dune system and prevent erosion and washout during storms. The walkovers are unobtrusive, simple and functional, with each walkover containing showers. Two of the walkovers are wheelchair accessible and contain restrooms.

Butterfly Garden
In the Northwest corner of Rosemary Beach at West Kingston Road is an elaborate butterfly garden. This garden was conceived as a display garden that would emphasize the significance of the native landscape. A wooden walkway weaves through colorful plantings that lure butterflies.
Foot Paths

The Rosemary Beach Fitness Trail & Walking Tour is a 2.3 mile trail that utilizes both sand paths and boardwalks to wind through the town’s native landscape, parks and public spaces; and incorporates four fitness stations that include exercise apparatuses for stretching and strength training.

Parks
Common “green” areas are located throughout Rosemary Beach and provide places for reading, games, picnics and barefoot strolls, as well as outdoor events.  These areas beach-side include the Western and Eastern Greens, South Barrett Square and Playground Park.

Park-side, there is East Long Green Park (featuring a knot garden) and West Long Green Park (both with tree-lined sidewalks leading cyclists along the 30-A bicycle trail); North Barrett Square; St. Augustine Park (featuring an interactive children's fountain and seating space, this park is the location of many outdoor concerts); Rosemary Beach Butterfly Park and various small pocket parks along the boardwalk with fountains, shaded seating areas and arbors.
